Hatuniye - One of the world's first women's shelters, built in 1700 in Eyup, Istanbul

Many important religious sites in Istanbul were abandoned in the early 20th century during the secular reformations made by Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.  Hatuniye, one of these sites, despite its cultural and historic importance, continues to be neglected and has fallen into severe disrepair.  The Historical Heritage Protection Foundation of Turkey proposes to conserve this significant landmark before more damage occurs.
