The Foundation’s Liaisons with other organizations

The Historical Heritage Protection Foundation gives special importance to setting up relations with scholars and experts on an international level as well as relations with local authorities and related experts. The Foundation is in contiuous close collaboration with The Landmarks Foundation in New York, which is dedicated to conserving sacred sites and landscapes around the world. 

The Ani project has received grants from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation via the World Monuments Fund and the protection of The Historical Heritage Foundation.  The Cultural Heritage Foundation of New York, USA provided matching funds.  The Historical Heritage Protection Foundation is also working closely with ICOMOS Turkey to propose the inclusion of the Van region's important cultural monuments in UNESCO's World Heritage Sites list.

Dr. Nicolas Faucherre, as one of the supporters of the Ani project is an international specialist on historic fortifications at the University of La Rochelle. He was also a member of the research team that evaluated Ani and published his report in France.

In may 1997 a series of lectures led by Prof. Dr. Beyhan Karamagarali was organized in Paris, France at that Ecole Des Hautes Etudies of Sorbonne University about the excavations of Ani. Dr. Nakis Akgul, one of the founders of the HHPF lectured on ceramics found at Ani.

Through the efforts of Prof. Dr. Beyhan Karamagarali and Prof. Mahe, funds were secured from the French government to continue the survey of the fortifications of Ani. Prof. Faucherre began carrying out this work with a team of experts in 1998.
